Subject: Silverwing vs Burgman Wed May 06, 2015 8:33 am. Recently purchased a SW and because I also own a Burgman 650, I was naturally curious about how they compare. Yesterday I took the Burgman to town as I had a few observations. The Burgman is physically larger and chunkier in heft and weight. It feels like a big bike, like a Goldwing.

The Majesty doesn't get that much better gas mileage than a Burgman 650 or the Silverwing. It's a good bike, but the design doesn't seem as up to date.

On the Silver Wing 400, the twin cylinder is fixed at the heart of a steel frame while the rear wheel is suspended by an independent swingarm, as on a motorcycle. That along with some slightly cool air temps will result in lower mpg. JeffR is spot on regarding the speed, higher sustained speeds are not SilverWing mpg friendly. It really sucks down the fuel at interstate speeds and much more so when the air temps are cold. Honda recommends plug replacement at an 8,000 mile interval for the SilverWing. A perfect spot for shades, toll-road cash or a passport. Styling-wise, the Silver Wing is pretty much the same Silver Wing before except this time you can get it in any color as long as its black. Admittedly, the 2011 Silver Wing’s black livery is particularly attractive when complementing the rest of the package. .
